Seagate Overture an Important Piece of Music in My Life

          I had never been so sure in my life. At that time, I just spent about ten minutes to decide to join a band and learn an instrument. When I was stepping into the wind band’s practicing room and listening this song, I realized that my wonderful musical life only just begun.

That was my first time hearing the live band music performance. Although, nothing was familiar, I was still excited. The temperament of the music was full of vigor and the tone color was so warm and vivid. Everyone in the band was holding their instruments and concentrate on their plays. Everything in this place really attracted me, so I started to find someone to ask the details of the song and the band.

                     I approached to the percussion group one group member started to introduce the details for me. “There are thirty members, seven groups and one conductor in our band. The groups are flute, clarinet, horn, sax phone, basso, and percussion group.” he said. “This overture was written by the famous musician, James Swearingen. He divided the song into A part and B part. A part’s tempo is vivid and lively, B part’s tempo is slower and duskier. This song was designed in the typical ABA style; it began with A part and then turns to B part and finally end with A part again.” After the introduction, the fellow played the snare drum in this song.

                    At first, I was confused but the fellow asked me just to follow the tempos and beat the times with the cantos. I started to nod my head and sway my body with the music. I felt so delight and was inspired with enthusiasm. Suddenly, another member gave me a Triangle and taught me hoe to play. I began to follow the stave and involved to the music.

At that time, I just could not believe that I was plating a musical instrument, I was a part of this beautiful song! I was absorbed in my hits. The group members started gave eye-contacts to me. After the cooperation, during the rest the percussion group members told me their joy of working with me. They asked me whether wanted to join them.

I was surprised by the invite, but I knew I really wanted to join them. I turned to the leader of the percussion group and related my decision. I said, “I really want to join you!” I chose percussion as my major in the band. The group members were happy about that and so did I. A peasant atmosphere surrounded us. Seagate Overture made a great touch to my heart, it opened the door to the musical world for me. I hope my life can involved in these beautiful melodies.
